Meet Angie

Real Conservative Leadership for a Better Sullivan County.

A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, Angie Stanley is a small business owner, wife, and mother who believes government should work for the people — not the political establishment. She currently serves as Vice-Chairwoman of the Sullivan County Board of Education and is a two-term former County Commissioner representing the 7th District.

Angie is running for Sullivan County Mayor because she knows our community deserves honest, effective, and common-sense leadership. For too long, county government has been mired in dysfunction, waste, and decisions that drive up debt while leaving taxpayers and small businesses behind. Angie will bring fiscal discipline, transparency, and moral leadership back to county government.

Sullivan County is a great place to live and raise a family — but the data is clear: we are falling behind in too many areas.

Nearly 1 in 4 children (24.5%) live in poverty.
The county ranks 51st in overall child well-being among Tennessee’s 95 counties — but 95th in Family & Community indicators.
Youth crime is among the highest in the state, ranking 92nd.
Household income lags behind neighboring Washington County by over $4,000, and job growth remains slow.
Our county carries roughly $300 million in debt, restricting investment in infrastructure, safety, and schools.

These aren’t just statistics — they represent real families, real students, and real opportunities slipping away. Angie has seen these challenges firsthand through her work on the County Commission and Board of Education, and she’s ready to lead with solutions that work.

1. Restore Fiscal Responsibility
Angie will demand full transparency in county finances, audit wasteful spending, and implement long-term budgeting that protects taxpayers. She’ll focus on paying down the $300 million debt without raising taxes and ending insider deals that put politics over people.

2. Strengthen Education and Youth Opportunity
As Vice-Chairwoman of the Board of Education, Angie has helped improve schools and expand student opportunities. As mayor, she’ll fight to increase access to quality child care, expand career and technical training, and implement community-based initiatives to reduce youth crime and chronic absenteeism.

3. Grow the Economy and Support Small Business
As a small business owner for over 30 years, Angie knows what it takes to balance a budget, create jobs, and overcome red tape. She’ll champion small business development, streamline permitting, and recruit higher-paying employers so Sullivan County families can thrive.

4. Protect Families and Communities
Angie believes government’s first duty is to protect its citizens. She’ll prioritize public safety, fight for stronger support for veterans and first responders, and ensure families feel secure in their homes and neighborhoods.

5. Lead with Integrity and Faith
A devout Christian and active member of her local Methodist church, Angie will serve with honesty, humility, and a moral compass guided by her faith and love for Sullivan County.

About Angie

Angie has been married to her husband, Chuck Stanley, for more than 20 years. Together, they’ve raised two children right here in Sullivan County. She has dedicated her career to improving the community — from serving on the United Way of Greater Kingsport Board of Directors to leading the Sullivan South Area Community Chest. Angie brings proven leadership, experience, and a heart for service to everything she does.
